Wrestler of the Month: Blu HaZe After loosing the FWF Backyard Championship, Blu HaZe would be the least likely person you probably would expect as Wrestler of the Month. But in the world of wrestling the adage "It’s not whether you win or lose, it’s how you play the game," would be very appropriate. You see, Blu HaZe indeed did lose the his Backyard Championship at Respect 2000, but he played the game EXTREMELY well. An FWF Veteran, Blu HaZe has always exuded charisma. During his early days as the "Cocaine Cowboy" HaZe’s charm and savvy allowed him to shine amongst an FWF roster filled with intriguing personalities. However, it wasn’t until HaZe won the Backyard Championship at Respect ’99 that his "true" style came out. HaZe was his gimmick. He was a clever, wise-cracking, foul-mouthed, verbose, smug individual. Sure, his acid tongue made him the most hated man in the FWF, but the truth is not many people give HaZe much credit for being able to back up what he says. Take a look at his track record, HaZe is the longest reigning Backyard champion in history – now this may be because shortly after he won the belt the FWF went on a 6-month hiatus, but even after those 6-months he still would be considered the longest reigning FWF Champ in history. Then there is the accusations that Blu HaZe did not fight regularly – yes, granted this is true, but look at the matches he has had during his nearly two year career. From the walloping he gave "the Cloak" at his FWF debut in ‘99, to the FWF/LWA gauntlet he ran at July’s 1000 Degrees, to the "classic" ladder match at Respect 2000, HaZe improves with each show. So, now the question is what does 2001 hold in store for the former Champion. No longer tied down by his former accomplice TJA Mahal and now regaining the respect he lost during his stint with the Regime, Blu HaZe has a new lease on life.
